Don't let this deter you as it does not happen for every single program. A slight annoyance but one that's definitely tolerable and easy to adjust on the fly. As soon as I took two seconds to turn off adaptive sync, the flickering was gone. I was using Davinci Resolve for video editing and noticed this quite a bit. The only "issue" I saw was that if you have adaptive sync turned on (to use g-sync) some programs might produce a slight flickering. I was on the fence about getting this because I do more than just gaming. This completely eliminated any screen tearing I was noticing before especially in Rainbow Six Siege no matter how much I tried to recreate it afterwards.Īs for using this monitor for anything other than gaming.you absolutely can and it looks amazing as well. Got this monitor 5 days ago and I too can confirm that this is an awesome monitor for the price! Took me about 15 minutes to get familiar with it and to get everything set up (g-sync, refresh, HDR, etc.) but once I did, I noticed a pretty significant improvement over the basic 60 hertz monitor I was using.īe sure that after you set up g-sync that you also turn on v-sync in the Nvidia control panel (do NOT turn on v-sync in options of whatever game you are playing as well). This can reach up to 165 hertz so even though I'm sure it will work for you, you can probably find another monitor that is either cheaper in price, or something that's bigger or 4K with 60 hertz for the same price or a maybe a tad more. Having said all of that, if you are getting this for an Xbox, it might be a little overkill. Most Xbox games can only utilize 60 hertz refresh rate with a few being able to play at 120 hertz. Keep in mind that while some freesync monitors that haven't been approved by Nvidia might work with g-sync, those monitors not on the approved list won't be guaranteed to work.įortunately, this monitor has been approved by Nvidia as you'll see the Nvidia G-Sync sticker in the corner of this monitor so both G-Sync and FreeSync will work. The good news is that a lot of freesync monitors are compatible with g-sync as well and Nvidia has tested many of these and deemed them "G-Sync Compatible" meaning you are guaranteed to be able to utilize g-sync with these approved monitors. This monitor is G-Sync compatible with AMD FreeSync Premium as well.įreeSync is easy to put into monitors 's free to do so and the manufacturers don't need to be charged a "fee" to put in g-sync.
